MESH visited the Wren Academy N12 9HB to talk about Space Maths as part of our STFC project: 2000 + 1 a space maths odyssey.
We introduced various examples of where maths is used to help our understanding of space before focusing on the Year 7 pupils’ current topics:
- Unit 7: 2D shape
- Unit 8: Area and Perimeter
We developed some bespoke resources for these units on the theme of developing appropriately sized solar panels for space exploration. The pupils’ solar panel designs will be used in our up-coming maths game 2000 + 1: a space maths odyssey.
We ran six sessions over two days (7th – 8th July).
- Day 1: 91 Year 7s and 85 Year 8s
- Day 2: 82 Year 7s and 87 Year 8s
