Archer Academy

MESH visited the Archer Academy N2 8GA to talk about Space Maths as part of our STFC project: 2000 + 1 a space maths odyssey.

We introduced various examples of where maths is used to help our understanding of space before focusing on the Year 7 pupils’ current topics:

  • Unit 7: 2D shape
  • Unit 8: Area and Perimeter

We developed some bespoke resources for these units on the theme of developing appropriately sized solar panels for space exploration. The pupils’ solar panel designs will be used in our up-coming maths game 2000 + 1: a space maths odyssey.

We ran four sessions speaking with 107 Year 7 pupils.
